Hi

So today I started my home NAS and to my unfortunate fate I found this:

I searched for the error mentioned in the title on this forum and followed the instructions to perform a normal SMART test on my drive but it completed the test without errors. That seems a bit weird. So could someone help me out with this? Following is the log that the test spat out:

Code:
# smartctl -a /dev/ada1

Isn't the alert from a scheduled SMART test?

No. It's from the auto polling interval. You have to setup scheduled SMART scans yourself.

Code:
197 Current_Pending_Sector 0x0032 200 200 000	Old_age Always - 1
This indicates a sector that may be marginal, because a read failed, but it hasn't been reallocated yet, because it hasn't shown a failed write. Get a proper SMART testing schedule set up and keep an eye on it. If the count starts to rise, you might consider revalidating the disk with badblocks, and/or replacing it.
