Just bagged a bargain Asus Prime X570-P to gave my TrueNAS Scale server an upgrade. Running fine so far, install went smoothly and all my apps and VMs are online with no complaints. Also I highly recommend the Fractal Design Meshify 2 for a home lab. Lots of room for hard drives (my 2 spinners are hidden in the PSU enclosure below the motherboard and 2 SSDs are mounted behind the motherboard). The space to the right of the motherboard can be reconfigured to take several more disks.

as that motherboard has realtek NIC, using it for TrueNAS is not recommended, at any price.

My previous board also had a realtek NIC and was absolutely fine. I'll be sure to let you know if it gives me any trouble.

absolutely fine.
if you read through the forums, you can find many stories of setups that "worked absolutely fine" and then suddenly didnt.
RAID, for example, will usually appear to "work fine" until one day the pool is completely impossible to import.

it is, of course, your choice, but the recommendations are made to discourage people using poor hardware and then asking for free help.
aid from the forums is often limited if you go against the recommendations of the forums.

many of us here really, really, REALLY hate the idea of dataloss.

I will suitably hang my head in shame when it goes wrong.

Been running a Ryzen + Realtek build for a long time without any issues. As long as it's supported by the Linux kernel it is good enough for me.

The Meshify 2 case has great thermals.
Also another reason I like the Asus motherboard is you can optimise all the system fans in BIOS, I can't believe how quiet it.
Are there any system fan monitoring tools for TrueNAS?

dont believe so. you would likely need a script. truenas is designed to run on boards that would have things like IPMI for that.
