Suggestions for emergency replacement of CPU

Hello everyone:

Years ago I bought a U2 server and put 6 SATA hot swap hard drives in it (an additional small 50gb SATA SSD for booting). There is no point in giving you the specifications because I don't even remember myself, I know that it has 2 intel XEON, 32 GB of ECC RAM and the HDs add up to a total of 12 TB.

It ran freeNAS, and then upgraded to TrueNAS.

I use the system only to store relevant things, it is not always on (it's an energy vampire, noisier than my 2006 Nissan); the disks are in mirror because the information that I keep there I want it to be protected.

The mobo is about to fail (boot errors, etc) and I am afraid it will soon die.

I would like to know if someone could recommend me a mobo / processor / ram combination as cheap as possible to be able to connect my hard drives to that new CPU and rescue my pools, understanding that it will be a system only for backup and recovery occasional?

You could do as @homer27081990 recommends, and buy a refurbished server. All the system integration's already done. All you'd need to do is bring the drives over. Reinstall TrueNAS to a boot drive on the new server, reimport your pool(s), restore your configuration, and then fix the parts of the config that didn't carry over to the new hardware.

You'll get better answers if you describe the 2U server in at least a little detail. Manufacturer, model, etc... Does it use 3.5 or 2.5 inch disks, what boot errors is it posting, etc... Real servers are very different beasts. They're built to lead lonely lives away from people, and as such there's a lot of effort put into their P.O.S.T. nagging, and issue reporting, and redundancy. The errors you're seeing may be something quite simple.

I am not looking to troubleshoot my 2U server. I want to replace it with another configuration.
