On my TrueNAS (current stable, TrueNAS CORE 12.0-U8) I tries to add many auxiliary groups to an user, but it do not accept more than 55 groups. Is there a limit of (auxiliary) groups can add to an user or how can I fix this?

I'm wondering how you're doing things that would have you reaching such a limit... it would seem there's either a group number limit or a limit to the length of the field that stores memberships.

Yes, this seems to be the problem. I were able to add three additional groups by the name of 1, 2 and 3.

I can tell you what I did to reach this limit: in order to have a most convenient way of permission administration I created for each dataset groups by the name of the dataset and the permission setting (e. g. Read, Modify) using APL. Therefore the group names are quite long and the number of groups is quite high.

Is there a way to fix this? It seems to be not a problem of the HTML script, but maybe on the interface behind?

In case not, what are my options beside shorten the names, using terminal or use an additional user? Or is there at least a better way of permission administration?
