alert system shows critical error for dev/da11 [sat]. However zpool status and volume status shows all drives on line. I rebooted server but error persists. running 9.10.2 U6

zpool status reports zpool status. The errors you are referring to are SMART errors from the smart monitoring system. They indicate a failing disk which is not yet impacting the zpool status.

You should look further into this. Perhaps run a smart extended test on the affected volume, and if its in warranty RMA it.
