Something went wrong with Corral. But attempting to rollback to one of the previous releases keeps getting the same error (for any release):

on the console, it is always 'can't access a /var/log file, file system is read-only',
-- at least those are the ones I managed to see.

I have a screenshot where I attempted to import the pool.

I will do a clean re-install from stick, but this is a loss of what should be a useful feature. Any way to make rollbacks work?
Thanks.

How are you rolling back? By booting into a previous boot environment from the boot menu?

Hmm, that's a pretty old version...

Just to clarify, you didn't restore your Corral config on this system?

Do you have any better luck if you install the latest 9.10-STABLE to a different stick? If that imports the pool, you could then try restoring your saved 9.3 config.

I couldn't restore configuration because of same prob - read only.
Version - yeah I kept going back farther to avoid prob. Always same thing.
I have my prev 9.3 configuration saved so that is ok ( I hope)

And I can't upload configuration either.
I give up. Far more time than I can afford. I have no idea what to do.

The pool was up. I uploaded old config file. Reboot.
Problems galore.
Console: same error messages keep cycling - error opening file for writing; filename ='/var/log/xxxx', file system is read only #30.
That config was an older one I know was perfectly fine.
Which file system? Isn't it only in RAM? is any of the pool used?

Console is non-responsive too

I also did a fresh install following a range of roll back errors.

Why are you using a two-year-old version of FreeNAS? 9.10 is very stable and has fixed a lot of bugs. If you were using a VirtualBox jail, and want to do so again, use 9.10.1-U4; otherwise, use the latest 9.10.2.

Does that make a difference with these problems? Don't see how.

Sure I'll try a newer version

It could. For one thing, as I already mentioned, many bugs have been fixed in the 9.x series over the past two years. Second, over time, new ZFS feature flags have been introduced. Especially if you upgraded your pool under FN10, they could prevent it from importing under 9.3.
