error: not capable of SMART check

I just got the error msg "Device: /dev/ada0, not capable of SMART self-check" which went away on reboot. I ran several smartctl options (see attached) & saw no reason for the message. Any suggestions welcome.

This is on 9.10.2 w/ 4 2TB HD in Z2 pool. Basic system is 8GB RAM Intel G4400 Pentium.

Silly man, it's a hard drive which has never had a SMART Long test run on it and rarely a SMART Short test. I see data loss in the future if all the drives are like this.

@jlpellet You have been a forum member for a very long time, you should know better so my advice is to setup your SMART testing schedules. Also you should know to post your system specs so please do that.

You mean what type/brand the drive is? It's all in the logs op attached.

Or are you referring to something else?

Misread the OP, I figured it wouldn't have valid SMART data.
