Trying to create a Jail but cannot

Hi,
I have wanted to create a jail in FreeNAS 9.10. But when I go and create a new jail, I get an error that says Unable to find a template!

What do I do?

You would put in your IPv4 gateway and nameservers for your environment...

in many cases, a FreeNAS® configuration does not include default gateway information as a way to make it more difficult for a remote attacker to communicate with the server. While this is a reasonable precaution, such a configuration does not restrict inbound traffic from sources within the local network. However, omitting a default gateway will prevent the FreeNAS® system from communicating with DNS servers, time servers, and mail servers that are located outside of the local network. In this case, it is recommended to add Static Routes in order to reach external DNS, NTP, and mail servers which are configured with static IP addresses. If you add a gateway to the Internet, make sure that the FreeNAS® system is protected by a properly configured firewall.

How would I figure out the Ipv4 gateway and nameservers? Are they addresses that are available in my local network?

Also, I want to install a standard jail template. For the URl and Mtree, what do I put in? The link to the files on the internet or on my computer? And what do I put in os?

Crawl before you walk, walk before you run. If you don't understand basic TCP/IP network principles (what is a default gateway, what is the effect of not having one configured, what is the default gateway on my network, etc.), you have no business trying to flash alternate firmware onto your router, trying to set up a VPN, trying to upload a custom jail template (you don't have to do anything at all for a standard one), etc. Get the basics down first, then worry about more advanced usage.

Understanding network basics and fundamentals is key.

I would suggest getting familiar with the basics of networking before going any further.

You don't need any other templates there....

You need to fix your networking in order for the system to be able to download the jail template. If the system can't get to the internet it can't download the things it needs.

You think incorrectly. The options are "-----" and "VirtualBox-4.3.12". "-----" is the standard template. No, I don't know why they didn't just call it "standard", but it is.
