Can another theme be added for the forums?

So the recent change in the website theme has me at a point where I would almost like to gouge my eyes out. WAY too much bright white and the light blue isn't much better. I tend to read light text on dark backgrounds and if something can be done I would greatly appreciate it and I am guessing a few others would as well. I know it's probably not high priority or anything but after having an almost continuous headache for the last month I am at a breaking point.

Huh, and I thought it was just me.

We're getting a new CSS guy this month, I'll have him take a look at it.

No it's not just you. I agree but didn't want to sound like I was nit picking. The blue text is hard on the eyes. Old eyes anyway.

I remember the Friday night when iXsystems switch to Xenforo.

At that time, a few themes were available. Over the course of a few days, those options disappeared.

Heh, my selection at the time stuck, but disappeared with the all-white-flashlight-in-the-face update recently.

The white title bar is pretty bad.

Reduced contrast on thread titles and related text is painful.

LOL, well I am glad that I am not the only one. Been very stressed lately needing to get some stuff done while planning to drive to Northern California and still want to try and help out here where I can. The bad thing is that I get major stress headaches which added to allergies kicking in makes me even more miserable.

Hopefully things on the trip go off without a hitch and I can get some semblance of a usual routine going.

I find the white intolerable and headache inducing as well. Unfortunately I have no idea what the old theme looked like so i'm just kind of taking what we have here and trying to improve by adding contrasting elements. We're looking into adding multiple new themes for your viewing enjoyment. I've already began breaking the components apart again in the CSS into a basic theme and it is starting to somewhat like a forum again :). One of my friends who is also a volunteer web dev over at the PC-BSD project (Tigersharke) also crossed the pond to give us some much needed theme development help. We're making this happen folks!

That's awesome news. Tigersharks work over at PC-BSD forums was a very welcome improvement. I'm sure you guys will be able to do some great work here and I look forward to seeing your progress.

I've enabled multiple themes again. There's only one that is being actively developed at the moment, but if you'd like to look at it switch over to "New Style". It should have quite a bit more contrast. Keep in mind it's a work in progress so there are still some areas that need attention.

I don't see any options anywhere to change the theme. Did you make them user selectable? It's an option in the admin panel.

That was strange. I could have sworn I checked that box. Xenforo may be revolting against me... Try it again and see if it's working now :).

Yup, it's working now.

<-- And I know it's not CSS, but if you guys can fix the "Messages: Message count:" jumble in the user info box in posts you'll be the board hero's. :D

It took me ~50 posts to notice and ~100 more to stop caring...

But we must do it to save the pedants.

I'm all for fixing it, but, at this point, it's more like a feature than a forum bug.

I'm just glad there is one less thing in my life trying to burn my retinas, now. It's appreciated at a time when all major stores around here have discovered the magic of Pentile-grid LED displays bright enough to hurt your eyes. None of them is run at a resolution that it can display, so text gets all blurry and unreadable, which makes the whole experience of walking around a mall even less pleasant.

That should fix your jumbled mess, but there are still 2 message counts displaying for some reason. has it always been like that?
