I am running FreeNAS-9.2.1.5-RELEASE and owncloud plugin is still on 6.0.3 with no update available. I see that newer pbi-s are already out including 8.2 for manual download (http://download.freenas.org/plugins/9/x64/) so my question is, why are updates not available from Instaled Plugins and what do I have to do to get them? Upgrade FreeNAS? Install pbi via manual upload? Change repo url?

at one point the repo URL changed. you might be pointing to the old repo URL.

Changed to: http://download.freenas.org/plugins/9/x64/pbi-meta/pbi-repo.rpo
Restarted FreeNAS, still no update button. Will I have to reinstall the plugin and will that destroy current owncloud files? I can see 8.2 as Avalible now.
I've never had to restart, just browse to the plugins > available tab.

you could try installing a second instance of owncloud and copying over your /media folder and /usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/www/owncloud/config/config.php

Ok, I managed to do it but this was a real pain in the ass. Plugin failed to turn on (the dreaded "Something went wrong" error) and I had to manually enter the jail and enable apache24 in rc.conf.

is the plugin showing in the left panel of the freenas webui. sounds like your plugins middleware is broken, which is usually related to the jail's networking.

if it's working though, you might not want to mess with it.
