Hi,

I've seen some discussions about the Intel 900P and ZFS and I didn't understand something:

Yes, it could be a great SLOG, but most of the time, SLOG only uses few gigabytes, and the smallest 900P is 280GB, so if I buy this card, should I partition it for Slog 10GB (for example) and L2ARC for the rest?

Also, maybe someone knows: I want to install such a card on a Dell R610, which has PCIe 2.0. Will this impact performance of the 900P?

Thanks

So basically I'll need 2 SSD's, one for cache and one for slog? Even then, isn't a 280gb ssd for slog is a complete waste?

Well. It can be done. The question is really should it be done?

Now, with NAND based devices, over provisioning is useful and improves sustained performance. I don’t know if it has any effect on Optane devices.

Also, using one device for two purposes bottlenecks the bus.... and perhaps the device.... but again, I don’t know if that makes a difference on Optane devices.

So, if you wanted to try, you’d want to do some benchmarking and trials.
