It doesn't show in an ifconfig, like the intel card i had before (when i was running truenas core) i had to add the line to enable it in the loader.conf file. But Truenas Scale doesn't have this loader.conf file, that I know off to enable a driver.

If you manually enable the driver does the card come online? Drop to the shell/command line and run modprobe i40e and see if the network card becomes visible in ifconfig or ethtool.

I didn't try that, with my inexperience with truenas scale, and this being a production setup, I figured best to just leave truenas scale for now. while cool, just not ready, had some other issues as well with the general workings of scale. Just wanted to give it a shot. When it is production ready, will be a nice way to setup a cluster.
