Looking to do the following build to use for FreeNAS / Plex / ZoneMinder for a home system.

I've got:
  • Intel e5-2609 v3
  • SuperMicro X10SRW-F
  • 2U SuperMicro CSE-825, Proprietary WIO (This is a free "hand-me-down" hence the WIO motherboard)
  • 16GB DDR4 ECC
With this I'm wanting to run 4x 4TB WD reds either mirrored or in ZRAID2. My questions are:
  1. I'm pretty sure the motherboard will work, but not 100%. Is the Intel C612 chipset natively supported by FreeNAS?
  2. Can I get away with running all of this with 16GB of RAM? I plan on upgrading RAM and then maybe doing some VM's once RAM prices come down. If not, could I drop down to 3x 4TB in ZRAID1 to make it work?
  3. Are there any potential pitfalls I should be aware of? I'm fairly competent in the Windows side of the world but a complete noob when it comes to Linux, so the less tweaking of drivers and kernels, the better.
Thanks for any feedback

16GB will be fine.
Don't opt for raidz1.
