Hi All,

I woke up this morning and saw that all of my FreeNAS HDD LEDs are much more active than they normally are. There is lots of slowness on the machine as well and I can't see any reason why!

Can you help me figure out what is causing this? I have a bit of experience in UNIX, but nothing like this. HELP!

Thanks,

My first guess is a zpool scrub. Might want to google it or read the manual.

In short, zpool status from the command line will tell you if a scrub is in progress.

And quite frankly, if you don't understand this stuff you should probably read alot more from the manual. zpool scrubs are the basic maintenance you should be performing regularly on your server...

Cyberjock to the rescue, as usual...you helped me out a while back. I have a zpool scrub set but it's never run this long so I had no idea what was going on. My pool has been getting larger so it's taking longer for it to complete. You setup the zpool scrub on mine when diagnosing speed problems via stupid windows robocopy. I set it to start the scrub earlier now.

Thanks for the insight, and yes...i definitely need to read up some more when i get the chance. Been too busy at work!

Upgrading within the next few months as well because of ECC Ram compatibility and taking your advice on the HBA as well M1015!
