Windows XP can't find users or groups (for security permissions)

I'm having trouble finding/adding groups and usernames in Windows XP, to the permissions settings. This is the error I get when trying to locate the group 'cad' (which certainly exists). I did try this with a Windows 7 computer, and it worked, and usually I'd be happy with this workaround, but in this case I am somewhat limited in my access to the Windows 7 terminal, so thought it might be profitable to try get the windows XP permissions working.

Anyone got any ideas?

You'll have to give more information about your setup in order for others to assist. Is this an Active Directory environment? If so, have the AD users/groups been imported into FreeNAS? Is this a CIFS share? What is the build version of FreeNAS (from System -> Information)?
