Has my thread being deleted?
Well Cyberjock's dog is obviously a bully http://www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/9_5/features/Canine_Aggression_Socialization_15805-1.html so maybe that's why.
It is. For people that take the time to read the manual and the other documentation that we've spent stupendous amounts of time to write and maintain. And one of our very first cardinal rules that is documented all over is "don't virtualize FreeNAS".
It's been so bad we don't even entertain questions regarding virtualzing FreeNAS.
Cyberjock is very to the point, being nice isn't as important. Especially when it's posted everywhere. Discouraging people from asking easily findable/readily explained concepts promotes self learning which is a major part of freenas/freebsd/zfs. Not reading first will cost you your data, and it's easier to either learn that early or get "intimidated" away from the product than to deal with everyone begging for help recovering lost data. For the most part people see freenas/zfs as their backup solution so if you just go in thinking "oh this will be easy I don't need to think about it, I saw some asshole on youtube tell me it's good to store my data on this" you are going to get burned, we have to break that mentality to ensure that people understand what they are getting into. Or at least that's what I see when I read cyberjock's posts.
My comment has been that if that's the way FreeNAS wants to represent itself, so be it. And having made that choice some people will opt out, which is of course their choice. So if folks realize they all have their choices in life, all is good.
...so the FreeNAS team (which is a collective for sure) ...
I didn't see what happened to cause this thread. But while I do agree people should read readily available info, it's obvious there are times when certain folks on this forum do respond to people in what I would consider a disrespectful way.

Gold editor's choice award for best post of the thread. :pFrom another point of view, I do like that two people with dog pics on their profile are having conflict. I can only image how this might play out at a dog park. :)
