vm storage deleteion

Hello - It seems the storage for the VM's is kept on the server after the VM itself has been deleted -- I noticed 40 - 60 GB files which belonged to deleted VMs... Is this a safety measure ? (Probably a good one) ... I was just experimenting with vms etc ... do not need the vhdd anymore..

Would like to bulk delete storage to free up --- is this possible ??
