This happens on the 4th disc connected to my promisse controller (volume2) and it's very frustrating, because i have to reset freenas and today only after 3 reboots, i managed to make it work!

Why does this happens? I think it's an issue of my volume 2 is set to power off the HD after 30 minutes and the promisse. Do you think this will go if i replace the promisse for another controller (like a IBM BR10i)?

Besides this, the writing speed to volume2 is very slow, with breaks.. it starts out at 60MB/s and after about 10s it stops and then starts again, but the speed is lower, and lower until it reaches about 10MB/s... I think this is because the promise is PCI and it's limited...

Regards.

I don't think Promise is a very well supported controller on freebsd...

You can try move the disk on ata5 port to another one...

The problem is that all ports are filled up. I had this problem on the past and at that time i changed the disc from one port to another and recreated the volume..But the problem seems to be on the Promisse. I think i'm going to order the IBM BR10i

Hi jfr2006,

You might want to hold off on the BR10i. Not that it's a bad card, I have one and it's working great but I'm helping a guy on the IRC channel who wants to connect a bunch of drives to an Asus E-350 board (I'm not sure of the model) but it appears thet the board might not like having a non-graphics card in it's PCI-e slot.

I do have to say that the R3 works out really well with the 2 SFF-8087 cables....it's a little tight getting the back side panel on, but overall it's really very clean. I picked up a couple of these: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10226&cs_id=1022604&p_id=5188&seq=1&format=2 and eliminated the modular SATA power cables.

Hi:

No worries, since i'm also changing my base system to an Athlon II 270u, using this board: Asus M4A78LT-M

Also, the problem with your friend could be the fact that the E-350 x16 slot is actually an x4 slot (although the IBM card should work in a x4 slot).

Regards.
