Disconnected the disk, connected to my PC and found no problems. So reconnected it again and after some tests (connecting to another port on the promise, replace the sata cable) i found out that the problem is with the port number 4 on my promise controller.

So, any suggestions to replace this?

Regards.

I don't know if this one will work for me. It needs a 8x pci-e slot. Although there is a 16x slot on my mainboard, in practice it's only a 4x.

also, don't i have to flash it with that special BIOS?

And i'm not on the uk, so i can't buy it from dell :(

Also, after another reboot (and a previous destroy of volume2), the promise is now working again.. this seems like a problem with the freenas drivers, maybe.

All the details about the flashing are included in my posting, and yes you are right you need a 8x PCIe slot for it work.
