Why is the Intel E3-1230 so highly recommended when the superior E3-1241 is available for $20 more?

I'm talking about on the high end - the hardware guide mentions the 30, and most builds I see use the 30, even builds designed for CPU-intensive tasks such as Plex transcoding. Is there something wrong with the E3-1241 that I'm missing, or is it just about the costs? I feel like when I'm building a $1000+ fileserver, $20 on a superior CPU isn't all that much...

because the 1230 is only 100Mhz slower and 20$ for 100Mhz is not worth it for most people?

There's nothing wrong with the 1241; it's just slightly faster and slightly more expensive than the 1230. I bought one because Newegg had it marked down in a nice combo deal with the Supermicro X10SL7 motherboard.

Honestly, the E3-1241 is a better deal, and for $20 I'd probably do it. I think the 1230 is the common buy because that's what I bought and a *lot* of people just buy what I have because they figure if it was good enough for me, wasn't overly expensive, then it should be good enough for them. The 1241 didn't exist when I was shopping for a CPU. :P
