Why does 11.3 UPS service require driver/hardware port for slave connection?

The config page for the UPS service in 11.3 has made a confusing change, in that it now won't let you save settings until you specify a driver and hardware port from the FreeNAS machine to the UPS, even when the FreeNAS box is acting as a slave.

Isn't this a contradiction in terms? Per Network UPS Tools, a slave inherently has no driver and port to specify because it isn't connected directly to the UPS, but rather to another machine over the LAN that's acting as the master (a Raspberry Pi in my case). So I have nothing to specify in those fields and can't save new settings, which is a problem because the IP of my Pi has changed and I need to update it for the UPS service. Editing upsmon.conf directly also didn't work as the settings in the GUI just overwrite it when you start the service

Is this an oversight? It doesn't make any sense as an intentional change and certainly wasn't required in 11.2, where my setup was working just fine without those settings.
