SOLVED What have I done wrong: Jail, synching slowness, ? vnet

Hello,
I've had a generally stable TN (Spec in sig block) with several jails (two plugins) had had to refresh my separate hardware pfSense (though don't know I changed anything significant...)
I've been trying to install synching, firstly as a plugin (no joy, VNET failures all round - research all seems to relate to 2-3yrs ago of issues, nil recently though), so swapped to installing via a jail. Base is 13.0. DHCP, (few trials and errors but eventually working)

Installed via pkg, syncthing and although that took a while, seems successful. However syncing is like treacle.

Also a separate (new) Windows10 VM is pretty slow too

SO what would be helpful...

What have I b*****ered up?
How do I fix it?
Do you need other stuff/info (Almost certainly!)

Just as an update... I configured as DHCP and this image results.
The default router is greyed out but is 172.16.0.1 but AFAIK I've never set it as this in TrueNAS nor pfSense. I tried stopping DHCP and set the router to 192.168.1.1 (pfSense) but when set back to DHCP the same router reappears???
Confused...

Did you disable hardware offloading for the physical interface?

Thanks Patrick, got as far as thinking about it, but never went through with it.... (on TrueNAS GUI only I presume)

You need to check that box labelled "Disable Hardware Offloading". Mandatory when running jails and VMs.

Hmm, I think I read the help box that said A will seriously damage performance, B only use if using jails, and only read the first sentence... However...
Ticked the box, took the warnings and when I restarted the jail got this

(I couldn't reset the "Disable Hardware Offloading" as each time I got a loop of "jail is still running" or the message below. Trying a reboot just now.)

Delete and re-create the bridge, run ifconfig (through SSH or console) in the jails and see if they get IPs.

Hi
Ran, ifconfig bridge0 down via console, (is that right way?) and then ifconfig via console gives this

can ping firewall etc from jail

Other jails seem to be running OK.
Syncthing, (the offending jail/pkg), seems to have stopped doing its thing (though not sure its directly related, it wasn't running for the last hour or two  )

You get a partial mac address here (or didn't copy everything ), if so, something is wrong with the virtual adapter of the jail.

Perfetto! Have a nice day! Just a last thought, carefully look the IPv6 setup of your router (if there is IPv6).

I don't mean to trouble you, but, if all is good, could you maybe edit the thread prefix as solved? That way it won't be visited by other people looking to help in the future. Thank you and have a nice day!

I'm not quite sure it was "Solved" but does seem to be resolved... !

I ended up deleting the jail, removing the bridge (ifconfig bridge0 down) rebooting, recreating the jail and installing synching into the jail. For some hidden/incomprehensible (for me) reason, synching is now chugging along quite happily

I can only thing something got corrupted with all my fiddling, and luckily fell back into place through no skill of my own

Cheers

No, I think you did great. Its just that such systems that are made to run for years without a restart, even a login to see how things are going, don't usually take kindly to be tinkered with. Its just the nature of things. Have a nice day!
