Hi guys

I need to go get another Western Digital Red drive to replace my current ERFX 3TB drive that is still giving issues.
one of my local suppliers is selling a WD40EFZX drive (4TB) for a decent price.

My question is... does the EFZX series avoid the whole SMR issue that WD had a little while ago? do you think going from 3TB to 4TB for now would be okay (I know it wont make any difference until I replace all my 3TB drives with larger ones, but wondering if I should just go larger now or try stick to 3TB)

Any advice is appreciated
Thank you

WD40EFZX is a Red Plus and will be fine.
Your call to invest in an upgrade now or later.

Ah, thats good to know.
Kind of desperate to replace my one drive for some reason it is stuck on 100% access and is slowing down my NAS considerably.

In a NAS environment, does it really make a big difference if the drives (or a single drive) are 5400rpm or 7200rpm?
I know it is based on what the usage case is of the NAS, im my case, basic storage and minor Plex usage to stream to the TV.

Noticeable difference in power consumption, heat and noise.

well, my NAS is pretty small, so should not be a huge difference I dont think.
Might just be better to get a 5400RPM drive then
