WAYYY in over my head, HA!

HA! Well, despite being way in over my head, TrueNAS seemed like the software platform that would most suit my at home network needs. How far in over my head am I? I'm what Linux/Unix/BSD/GNU (whatever it is lol) folk might call a "normie." I don't know any bash terminal command line; I don't use any distros; Been using windows for way too long... Yet, I recognize the power and freedom in open source tech and am trying like hell to cut the umbilical chord that's had me trapped for so many years under a Microsoft based ideology, which oddly enough I hear might be switching to Linux anyways?!?! Anyhow, I thought to myself "what better way to get my feet wet in the open source OS world" than to do a DIY TrueNAS build and find out how much of all this I can take? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm receptive, excited for something new, and willing to learn from my mistakes. Hopefully I can ask the right questions and connect with the right humble teachers willing to help along the way.

Welcome to the fray. If you're ready to do a bit of reading and planning first, you'll find that TrueNAS and ZFS are both quite easy to get used to.
