Trying to Access the USB and SERIAL ports of a diamond system Portable Computer from
The Operation system of a Gigabyte Motherboard, Where only one Monitor one Keyboard one mouse between the both of them.
Information on the Micro PC
http://www.diamondsystems.com/files/binaries/Octavio-ATHM User Manual.pdf
Information on the MotherBoard That will be accessing it

I was thinking along the lines of Network Attached Devices via the Ethernet, so far my Research has turned up FreeNas as an option assuming it can connect to the USB and Serial ports Remotly.
The Idea Of connection via Pci slot will not go since the Athena does not have a PCI connection, connecting via the serial ports may be viable but very limited control via telnet.
Prior Experimentation with the AthenaII is that win 98 / 2000 will not install correctly on it, WinXP halfway works, The manual seems to base it on a linux system and or a windowsCE. So this leads me to think it can support BSD. Which again gets me to thinking that FreeNas might be the way to go.
So here is the questions,
1. Can you remotely access the USB and SERIAL / PARAELLE ports of a system running FreeNas?
2. If it is not possible with FreeNas are there any suggestions on what type of program to use?
Thank you for your time,
Joseph Zobac.
(I attached a Jpg of the Device for those who love to look at hardware.)
