Using FreeNAS for backing up Clonezilla images

At one time I was able to use Clonezilla to backup images to FreeNAS. That was a few years ago and I'm trying to get it working now with my new FreeNAS (11.2-U6) server but can't manage to mount the remote server - ie NFS or SMB.

Does anyone have anything like this working?

Clonezilla was unable to mount the FreeNAS NFS share. Not sure where to look for pointers. I'll try and post some debug info when I next try it.

Of course it would be preferable to have a FreeBSD solution, one which I could start via PXE, but am not aware of one. I suppose I could start with mfsbsd and develop some sort of script to mount the FreeNAS share and dump the local device, but I'm not sure that mfsbsd includes support for mounting via NFS.
