Hi,

My USB drive containing FreeNas died and I am not able to recover anything from the USB Drive. I am not sure what version I was running other than I believe it was a 9.x but I had downloaded and installed it earlier this year, (I think in January), and used the latest at that time.

I was wondering what is the best version to use with highest chance of recovering my data with or without my configuration files, (I read that there may be a way to retrieve the config files from one my my drives) - I have 3 drives with one stripe configuration, (I believe). I read that I may be able to find a configuration file on one of the old drives which will help in recovering the data.

I checked the archive downloads https://download.freenas.org in order to figure out a time stamp to better figure out what version I was running but many seem to be from 2017. Are the dates accurate so one can map the a version to a date back in time when it was downloaded, (assuming I downloaded the latest version sometime around January, 2017).

Thank You

Much thanks! Would the most recent version be safer than this version:
FreeNAS-9.10-RELEASE.iso

I think this is the version I had previously.

Also. By importing a pool is there any risk of destroying my data if I follow instructions/threads so as to not do so?

Thank You!

Yes, Importing Volume as described worked with any any issues.

Much relief!

Thank You Kindly!
