UPS caused USB crash

Hi there,

I have a UPS connected via USB (usbhid-ups). Everything works great.

Yesterday, with the upsd and upsmon services running, I yanked the USB cable of the UPS. I didn't think much of it, but several minutes later, I noticed the log file full of USB error messages from the FreeBSD kernel. Eventually, USB seized up completely. Since my 'freenas-boot' pool is mounted from USB, it caused the entire system to freeze, with "freenas-boot" has been marked as offline. All functions related to USB ceased. I could not type, mouse, or rediscover the UPS (or any USB device).

The rest of the system, including shares, continued to work. As such I was able to shut down all dependent systems. A bit later, the TrueNAS system core'd and froze. I was forced to hard-reset.

Everything came back up normally - I have remote replicated pool snapshot backups anyway, so I didn't really worry too much about data. However this means I no longer have the system log files showing the errors. I do, however, have the core files and the corresponding TrueNAS alert wants me to file a Jira ticket. Should I, or should I post the core files here for someone to look at first, esp since this may be more of a FreeBSD issue?

Thanks for any insight.
Yousif
