Let me first thank the development team for continued update to this fantastic program. Is it too laborious to update samba to the latest version with each Freenas Update? I install 11.u3 today and notices that samba version is 4.6.4. The latest 4.6 version is 4.6.7 which includes a bunch of bug fixes (no new features). again thanks for your hard work.

Samba can't just be updated willy-nilly. It tends to break a lot of things, so it needs extra work. A minor update may not be the best place for such a change.

Is there a specific bug you are running into with the version of Samba that is bundled with FreeNAS? If so, report it as a bug to the FreeNAS team so they can fix it.

If it's just updating for the sake of having the latest version of Samba in every release, it's usually not worth the effort to upgrade unless upgrading fixes some known issue people are running into and focus development/QA efforts elsewhere in the product.
