So I tried to take the plunge and upgrade from 10 stable to 11 stable today. I backup-up my data and changed the train to 11 stable. ran the upgrade from the GUI and after a while I got back in with an error message that the update failed see update.failed. So I have not done a thing since this error message. I have attached the update.failed file.

Looking for assistance.

Thanks,

Alkyred

I miss quoted my version before the upgrade. I was running 9.10.2-U6. I rebooted back to the 9.10.2-U6 and I seem to be running again.

I will look at the link from MrTodd but stilll looking for advise.

Thanks

That's a completely different matter. Upgrading from 9.10.x to 11.x is supported, while upgrading from Corral isn't.

My suspicion is now that your boot medium might be flaky. USB flash drive(s) involved? Save your config (System -> General -> Save Config) if you didn't already do so, do a fresh FreeNAS 11 install on a new USB flash drive (even better would be a tested one) and load your config from there.

Please give information about your hardware as stated in the forum rules if you have further questions.

That looks like a copy paste from Dell's website. What is your configuration??? Also if you are using an Optiplex, you are not using ECC RAM, correct?

You are correct on the copy and paste along with using NON-ECC memory. This is a simple home build from a spare system. It has 2 2TB mirrored drives shared for family data storage. I also have Plex running my DVD collection. Everything is backed for to my live drive account which is what I consider Disaster Recovery.
