Upgrade crashplan to latest version

Dear all, I have looked in the forum for whys to manually upgrade crashplan to no avail, I installed the plugin version 3.6.3 that is available normally, however this version seems to old to be controlled by the latest client, I am sure there must be a thread on how to upgrade this manually (i have found some that say that just restating the service would trigger the upgrade, this is not happening for me), could you point me to it

I am keen on using this as an offsite backup solution

I can't get it to update either, so what I did was download the old crashplan 3.6.3 desktop app. That connects to the plugin just fine. The 4.x versions will simply ignore the plugin.
