I've successfully installed Freenas and configured my settings.
But my problem is after logging out of the gui I can't get it to load again.
When I try to load the gui I receive a message that states "firefox can't establish connection to
the Server".
A couple of times I have been able to load the gui but, only after resetting to factory defaults.

My Specs are.

Supermicro X9SCM-F bios 1.1a
Intel i3-2100 cpu
Kingston 8gb ecc unregistered memory (on QVL)

I'm really at my wits end, and ready to go back to windows
even though I don't want to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what settings are you configuring?

HI, and thanks for your reply.

Well I installed 8.02 last week and didn't have any problems.
Than I updated to 8.03, now nothing but problems.
I configured a RaidZ2 with 6 disks, setup shares for windows.
The thing I find odd is that I can still access the folders through windows.
As I've been learning more about Freenas I've been trying to log into the gui.
I'm not having any other issues with my network so it leaves me to believe
it has to be freenas.
Any ideas.

One of the common problems is that people don't configure the network correctly. Often times they forget to put in the gateway and then they get unreliable behavior.

You might also try installing 8.0.4 and see if the problems persist. You can also try simply doing a clean install of 8.0.4 and import your existing zpool. You'd have to re-create your cifs shares, but that shouldn't take much.

I installed 8.0.2 yesterday, and as usual I was able to login to the gui.
After importing my volume and configuring basic setting I logged out.
When I tried to go back in the the gui it wouldn't open, as usual.
So I started playing around with what was actual entered into the
address bar, and what I found was I had to enter everything.

Let me explain, Just entering the IP address didn't work.
But when I entered this in the address bar, (http://freenas ip address:24/account/login/?next=/) Success.
So I've added the address as a favorite and haven't had any issues since.
So I don't know if this is the usual way other freenas users load their gui or not.

I just thought I would let you know in case this could help others.

That sounds like somehow you've reconfigured the web server to listen on port 24 (that's the :24 after your freenas IP). Don't know what you're doing, but I think that is what is happening.

Hi louisk,
Port 24 seems to be the default port freenas wants to use, it's not a port that I've configured.

Thanks for all your input.
Your right the default should be 80, I wonder what's going on then.
Could it be my router behaving strangely?
I will change the port to 80, hopefully that will clear this up once
and for all.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate everyone's input

well if your interacting with your freenas box from an internal ip the router isn't even involved. I guess the setting somehow just got changed, totally weird.

Hi Joshua,
The ip address was assigned by my router, the router has DHCP enabled and all my pc's receive their ip's this way.
