If I just let the installer run automatically, I just get a white rectangle in the upper left corner:

If I select the Serial option, it actually starts running lines of text down the screen, but then it gets to here and just stops:

I tried installing Ubuntu, and that also failed, because some of the files apparently weren't identical to the ones on the "source CD/DVD", which is an error message that presumably just hasn't been updated since optical drives faded into irrelevance.

I'm installing from a USB drive - I've tried two different drives - onto an M.2 SSD. There are no other drives attached to the system at present, not least of all because I ordered two 20TB WD Reds from Amazon and instead they sent me one 1TB WD Black. And then tried to offer me a partial refund because I did technically get one of the 39 TB of storage I'd purchased.

MoBo is an Asus Prime B660M-A, CPU is intel i3 12100. 32GB of RAM in 8GB sticks, had to switch the voltage to 1.3 to get that to POST but otherwise everything is fresh out of the box.

This is a server OS. Set everything in the BIOS to stock, if your RAM has issues with XMP, set it to stock speed and memtest86+ it, irrespectively of the problem. Your system has issues with RAM, its not a TrueNAS issue.

@koberulz Did you figure it out? I have the EXACT same problem as you, spent crazy amount of hours troubleshooting but with no luck.

Please go and follow the testing and burn-in guidance provided elsewhere in the forum,

I am getting the same issue here on the ASUS PRIME B660M-A D4-CSM motherboard, I have already run Memtest86+ v6.00 and its passed 3 runs so far. The system is brand new, all parts bought new in box for the NAS this weekend:

- Intel Celeron G6900 Dual Core LGA 1700 3.4GHz CPU Processor
- Kingston ValueRam 8GB (4x 8GB) DDR4 3200MHz Memory
- Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250GB NVMe 1.3 M.2 (2280) 3-Bit V-NAND SSD - MZ-V7S250BW
- ASUS XG-C100C-V2 10GBase-T PCIe Network Adapter
- Seagate ST8000DM004 8TB BarraCuda 3.5" SATA3 Desktop Hard Drive x4 drives

I was ultimately able to resolve the issue by disabling all the onboard devices such as serial port/audio/network and resetting all of the secure boot settings.

The differentiating factor here is you did some memtest.
