Unable to import a volume

I'm trying to import a volume but I get this message -

"The selected disks were not verified for this import rules."

Can anyone help with the meaning of this message and, more particularly, how I can remedy the underlying problem.
I have already run the 'wipe' option in the 'View disks' window - to no effect.

If you wiped the disks, what volume are you expecting to be able to import, exactly? Unless by "...to no effect" you meant that you attempted to wipe the disks, but no wipe happened. If that's the case, then I think you either have a corrupted volume or bad disks.
