I've extracted a 1TB Seagate HDD from an old Buffalo NAS and installed it into my N54L.

Despite extensive Googling, I can't get the darned thing to format to UFS from GUI or from Shell.

I've tried nfs, fdisk etc but I either get the GPT format error in GUI, or something like the below.

I'm a noob with this stuff, so I tried to think logically and remove any boot sectors or other stuff which I did from a Win PC. But that didn't work either.

Can anyone tell me how I might get this drive to work with FreeNAS please?
[root@freenas ~]# newfs -e /dev/ada1 newfs: /dev/ada1: bad blocks per file in a cylinder group [root@freenas ~]# newfs /dev/ada1 newfs: wtfs: 512 bytes at sector 1953525167: Input/output error [root@freenas ~]# ^C [root@freenas ~]#
