unable to connect to share vnc or web ui

Hey guys hoping someone might be able to help me with this,
i am running freenas 11.1 U5
i have a single network interface running an ip for freenas then a bridge connection for plex
plex contiunes to work fine but not freenas
i have tried changing the ip and restarting the network interface, but only doing a full reboot seems to work
thanks in advanced for anyone who can offer advice

my hardware on the server
intel core i5-3570 3.40GHz
12GB DDR3
3 3TB wd red 5400 RPM HDD
booting from 16GB flash drive
Intel integrated 10/100/1000 network card unsure of the model
using smb share
using real vnc
using both mac high sierra and windows 10 when connecting both using latest update of firefox

What for?

booting from 16GB flash drive

Just one? What kind? How long has the system been running from the USB drive? It has been observed that when USB drives begin to go bad, they web GUI will fail to respond.

i use realvnc to connect to an unbuntu server that i am running on freenas vm feature.
yes just one its an hp branded 16GB the flash drive itself has been in use for about a month before i installed freenas about one week ago.

the flashdrive is usb 3.0
to be 100% clear the connection problem exists for web GUI, realvnc and the smb share
