Good afternoon everyone. So I am thinking it is finally time for my to upgrade my system to something that can support future expansion and meet my needs a bit more. The purposes I will be using my server is for:
The reason I am wanting to upgrade is since my profession has changed I want something that is reliable, fast, and lots of space for more drives. I have done lots of research, but I still can’t figure out what exact approach I want to do. What I will do is layout what my current thoughts are and any and all feedback is appreciated.
Potential New Setup:
Disk Shelfs:
But while writing this I might go with a supermicro case and hack it up to fit in my server rack. It's 4" to long so I am going to bring that down, replace the fans in it with notcua's, and call it a day. I am pretty good with creating things so shouldn't be a problem at all. I found a company in the states, TechMikeNy. Has anyone ever worked with them? Since the cpu, motherboard, and RAM combined are only a $150-$200 less then less I thought why not get a supermicro case for a couple 100 more. What are peoples thoughts?
