I suspect the native PC UEFI ISO is looking for an eMMC drive as the CloneZilla target. bhyve doesn't emulate these, so dietpi won't be able to see your zvol. Your only other option is to use the Make your own distribution procedure to convert a vanilla Debian installation to dietpi.

Sameul appears to be wrong about this. It installs for me on TrueNAS CORE using VirtIO for both the VM's disk and nic:

Ah. Once the VM powers off, remove the CD drive device, and renumber the remaining devices to start from 1000.

I just followed the VM wizard steps in TrueNAS CORE as usual. Install media was DietPi_NativePC-UEFI-x86_64-Bullseye_Installer.iso

I didn't follow the install process closely after the initial clonezilla screen was displayed. After the Vm appears to shut down, just delete the CDROM and start the VM again. I didn't renumber the devices. Starting and stopping the VM via the webUI looks flakey, but poweroff/reboot from within VM itself functions as expected.
