I am still quite noob with this so thought this would be the best place to post!

Using ver 9.3

I am trying to move files within the same dataset from one sub set to another with Windows 7 via CIFS, but I have run into permission issues. No matter what I've tried, it seems that when I try to move files I do not have permission.

I have previously had success using the gui shell commands, but mv or cp give me 'operation not permitted' errors.

My latest experiment with the CIFS share settings is to disable guest and select apply default permissions recursively. I suspect this will take some time to apply...

Where am I going wrong here?

What are the permissions on the parent folder according to the Windows client?

ah I have an update here.

I did have it set to nobody as group and user, but after i changed permissions recursively to the whole dataset to my user/group xargon, it seems to work fine.

I think this may have borked up my plugins though!

Your plugins should be in a different dataset than your data so you don't have to mess with the permissions in your jail. This is why there is a jails dataset that gets auto created.
