Dear FreeNAS Friends,

almost done with my VM test, ready to install FreeNAS life.

Is there a way to create a ramdisk so I could let plemediacenter transcode in ram instead of my precious hdds ;-)

Your RAM is also precious when using ZFS. ;-)

I have 16 GB and it would run plex sonarr sabnzbd, maybe a VM and some other stuff in time, I would have to monitor at what time a ramdisk isn't efficient anymore.

Byhteway, I played a lot with LVM and ones I changed to BTRFS, that is best for me in server use, but FreeNas is using ZFS, so ZFS it is in FreeNas.

Your RAM is going to be plenty busy without trying to add a ramdisk.

A ram disk is worthless for Plex. Your bottleneck is going to be network and cpu. I think even putting Plex on a SSD is worthless.

For all intents, ARC is a RAM disk.
