Syslog in Debian VM

I was trying to follow a forum post on setting up a syslog in a jail and ran into trouble on my 9.10 build.

I also wanted up set up a pi-hole and so I did that through a Debian VM so I did that without trouble. I was wondering if I could just run the syslog in the same Debian VM as well.

I know I would need to alert the plan slightly from what is in the set up for a jail syslog but I'm wondering about specific tips anyone might have.

Where specifically in the jail setup is the syslog linked to the jail setup.

I set up my Debian VM with very low resources 1cpu and 512RAM as it is just a DNS server right now.

I am running 9.10

If the syslog daemon is running in the jail, you should be able to point to it in the "Syslog server" section of http://doc.freenas.org/11/system.html#general.

Okay cool. I can just point to the ip of the VM.
