Hi All

I have built a demo rig, and currently in the process of learning TrueNas (vertical learning curve!)
So far I have installed, setup users/groups, SMB shares, created a Plex server with mounts.

When I installed TrueNas - I used 2 SSDs 250GB and 120GB.
For testing I am using a 1TB drive.
The install said these would be mirrored disks
1st question - I can't see this mirror - how do I know the OS is mirrored and it is working and healthy?
I can see the individual disks but I see no pool or mirroring?

I plan to do the following.
OSDrive - 2 mirrored SSDs (250Gb and 120GB)
AppDrive (for jails & VMs) - 2 mirrored SSDs (I already have one)
DataDrive - 6to8 NAS HDDs

My 2nd question - if I wanted to backup the OSDrive and AppDrive to another drive, how would I do this? If there mirrored is there anypoint?
I can do the AppDrive (iocage) to the GDrive using the cloud sync tasks using a PUSH SYNC and it looks like it has worked.
How would I do this to a drive?
Also how do I do this to the OS put my truenas setup backedup in the cloud?

My 3rd question - Somewhere I read about OS Configuration files can be backed up (which I'm guessing is all the settings I have adjusted and a much lighter weight than backing up the whole OS); where would I find how to back those up and store on an independent computer or the a duplicate on a DataDrive?

Thanks
Chris

Q1:Click the gear icon and then click status, that will tell you what drives are in the pool
Your boot pool does not appear in this screen, and is probably the two SSD's

Open a shell and type "zpool status -v" (the -v seems optional) which will hopefully show that your pool freenas-boot has two disks associated to it

Mine shows:

pool: freenas-boot
state: ONLINE
scan: scrub repaired 0B in 00:00:29 with 0 errors on Mon Apr 12 03:45:29 2021
config:

NAME STATE READ WRITE CKSUM
freenas-boot ONLINE 0 0 0
mirror-0 ONLINE 0 0 0
ada7p2 ONLINE 0 0 0
ada6p2 ONLINE 0 0 0

errors: No known data errors

This shows ada7 & ada6 mirrored as part of my freenas-boot pool

Q2: Replicate a snapshot from one pool to another pool / zfz system
BTW - I think this is a waste of time for the boot pool as TrueNAS is quick to install and all you need is a config file

Q3: System/General/Save Config
