I'm looking for some advice and I found quite a few topics on this board, but none with info on my particular situation. I have a dozen 4TB NL-SAS drives that I would like to use for a Freenas build. I'm looking at the SUPERMICRO X10SL7 since this has 8 x SAS2 (6 Gbps) ports via LSI 2308. I'm assuming that it will work, however, the ports on the board look like standard SATA ports. I don't have much experience with SAS drives.

My question is, what exactly will I need to make this board work with NL-SAS drives? Is there some type of specific cable required? I've looked at breakout cables but they don't look compatible. I only want to connect 6 of these drives.

Thanks!
