standalone NFS and SMB shares or?...

I am looking through the new options in TrueNAS 12 and am not sure if I read the Purpose setting correctly.
If I select Multi-protocol NSF/SMB, does it mean I don't need to create standalone NFS share for my torrent server that runs Ubuntu? The data in question are to be accessed by both the torrent server and computers running Windows.

Multiprotocol means the share will be used for both NFS and SMB shares at the same time, and applies some Samba settings to the share to protect against the differing protocols stepping on each other. You still need to set up NFS and SMB shares against this dataset.

Thanks, I get it I guess - it's made exactly for situations like mine, where I share the same data for both Linux and Windows machines, right?

Actually I'd say yes and no as Windows machines will not be presented with the full ACL functionality which could make for problems. An alternative is to consider mounting SMB shares on your Ubuntu server then you will have only one protocl to deal with.

ixSsytem's @anodos has posted about this NFS/SMB option in the past and the tehnical reason for the limitations it imposes.
