Hello all,
I have the following symptoms with Freenas 9.3 (FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201508250051).
I am mounting user mail directories via NFS onto the mailserver. If the Maildirs are accessed, the NFS-Client locks up, stalling the connection of the program which made the access (in this case Dovecot).
This happens regardless if NFSv4 is enabled or disabled on the Freenas-Box.
The CPU load skyrockets on the client and I have multiple IMAP-Threads in the background, doing nothing.
A symptom is f.e. Thunderbird trying to access the mailbox, but ultimately failing due to a timeout.
The idle threads will not be terminated by exiting dovecot, I have to forcefully kill -9 them.
I can reproduce the issue with different Linux-Versions (Debian 7, 8, Centos 7.1) and Freenas 9.3, but NOT with older Freenas-Versions (9.2, 9.1)
Switching to NFSv4 would solve the problem but is in my case not possible due to issues with UID/GID.
Another solution I found working was mounting the share with "nolock", but as you can imaginethis is highly impractical in my case.
I tried the "Troubleshooting" Part of the docs (that's why I tried with nolock) but it doesn't really help me out here..
Can anyone give me some pointers please?
Possible relevant output, please let me know if you need more:
dmesg FreeNAS
rpcinfo -p FreeNAS
