I have successfully set up SSH to require public key authentication for a user in my wheel group. Whenever I reboot FreeNAS, however, the user's SSH Public Key is cleared out and I have to paste it in again. Seems like I'm missing something obvious--has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, hit Modify User, and paste into the SSH Public Key box. After hitting save, I can then SSH in via PuTTY with that user. It's only when I reboot FreeNAS does that pasted key get cleared out.

Forgot to add, I'm on FreeNAS-8.0.3-RELEASE-p1-x64 (9591).

Sounds like a bug then. Can you double-check if support.freenas.org has an existing ticket, and if not, create one? I know there is a similar issue with rsync saving keys from the GUI, so it may be related.

Such an easy fix. My user's home directory was just /mnt, which won't work because it's not persistent. I changed it to /mnt/freenas (my pool, a persistent location), and the SSH key survived reboots.
