Splunk in a jail?

Has anyone tried running Splunk server on FreeNAS? I really can't find very much information on this, so I wanted to ask if anyone here has done it. I'm also open to alternatives, but that's what I'm familiar with and there's no need to use something different unless I have to.

They have a version on their site for FreeBSD 8 and 9 but nothing since then, so I'm not even sure how up to date the bits are.

Any experience with this setup?

Please don’t quote me as I’m not a guru, but I think bsd can run some Linux code, so you might be able to use the Linux versions too, maybe?

Ahh. Well that's too bad.

I was looking into Docker VM's too, but haven't been able to get them to work on an 11.2 system.
