Hello,

Apologies if this has been posted before. I did use the search and could not find a related post.

The issue is that I set the permissions in the root folder and when creating a sub-folder it adds new permissions. Is it possible for it not to? I am primarily concerned about the Everyone group that's added.

Appreciate your assistance,

Thank you.

Hi anodos,

Thank you for the response.

This system has already been upgraded from 11.2 to 11.3 and I have already configured the ACL. Once that was complete, I then configured the permissions via the Advanced Security Settings window in Windows as pictured above.

anodos,

I have since tried setting the aclmode on the dataset to "restricted" which had no effect on the issue. While searching about aclmode I came across another user with what appears to be the same problem as I. You recommended setting the aclmode and adding ixnas:zfs_acl_chmod_enabled = false to the auxiliary parameter of the smb share. Apparently the aux parameter was the solution for the other user but it did not resolve it for me.

Here's that thread https://www.ixsystems.com/community/threads/acl-manager-in-11-3-beta-1.80057/

Appreciate any further suggestions.

Thanks.
