Slow folder to folder file transfer

I am running FreeNAS-11.2-U3 on a stand alone machine. In the process populating folders on the machine, I find that when I transfer a file from a networked PC the file transfers at +/- 10MB/s. The bandwidth display on the Dashboard shows data coming in only. When I transfer a file from one folder to another within the FreeNAS it will only transfer at 3.7MB, and the Dashboard bandwidth display indicates that the data is going and coming at the same speed. Is there any way to increase the internal transfer speed?
