Slow displaying contents of large folders

So recently I've switched from a windows 2003 fileserver to freenas 9.2.1.6 due to the future discontinuance of support for server 2003. Anyways, since installation I've noticed that when opening any directory containing many (100+) sub directories or files, it takes sooooo long to display the contents. But it's not the case using 'ls' from the shell. I imagine that it's something to do with the share.

Any suggestions is appreciated!
More information can be provided if necessary to.
